They don’t call it The Year of the Dragon for nothing; two thousand twenty-four was on fire, a non-stop whirlwind. At this point in my life (married, three kids) there’s no such thing as calm, but the only choice I have is to embrace it with the fortitude of Marcus Aurelius and the bonhomie of Mark Antony. Not that I crossed everything off my to-do list, but on reflection (*pause*) yes, it was a productive year, both personally and professionally. Some highlights:
I released four podcast episodes in a four-month stretch with four of the most brilliant guys on planet earth.1 And not only that, some of these virtual conversations turned into IRL friendships (and signed copies of two books). So cool.
I met Tim Ferriss on Zoom, got to ask him a few questions and hear his characteristic thoughtful responses live, if not quite in-person. As someone who’s been a big fan of Tim’s for at least 15 years, this was a big moment.
I made my way back to New York twice more, half for business and half for pleasure. With two kids under 2.5 years old, getting out of the house is a milestone, so getting out of the state is downright miraculous. Manhattan, as always, was wonderful, but spending time in Brooklyn and Hoboken was also a treat.
Also: I started golfing semi-seriously, volunteered with a local foundation, finished about 25 books, did 10,000 burpees, made the acknowledgments of a new book, had dinner with the inimitable
, saw two Penn State games in person, and changed a few thousand diapers. See above: whirlwind.Oh, and I got a job.
In case you haven’t heard the bittersweet news, Adda Financial has been wound down and I’m now a proud member of the team at Equilibrium Wealth Advisors. In future posts I’ll be writing more about my entrepreneurial experience and the decision to get back into an office, but suffice it to say that it’s been nothing but positive.
On that note, you’ll be hearing a lot more from me in this format. Call it a New Year’s Resolution, self-sabotage, or a nod to
, but I’ve committed to publishing one post per week in 2025. This is, quite frankly, a terrifying proposition, but I believe that getting out of my comfort zone is where the magic happens. It’s time to LTFI.Cheers to 2024. Here’s to a fulfilling, healthy, and raucous 2025. See you all next week!
